The Institute's publishing activity is related to the preparation and publication of scholarly books, journals and papers in the fields of Croatian and general linguistics

The Institute's publishing activity has recently become more intensive. The Institute has introduced a new series and its journal Rasprave Instituta za hrvatski jezik i jezikoslovlje (Treatises of the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics) has become a major linguistic journal.

The Institute publishes works that are the result of research within scientific projects, as well as other projects where the Institute is featured as a publisher or co-publisher. It publishes monographs written by the Institute's staff, prepares critical editions of older Croatian lexicographic works, publishes reprints of fundamental Croatian philological works, produces dictionaries of older periods of the Croatian language as well as dictionaries of the contemporary Croatian language, and translates and prepares for publication fundamental works of contemporary linguistics.
